    • Discuss and debate contemporary issues raised by texts read
    • Identify slang, dialect, and/or informal language
    • Describe and develop characters
    • Write a simple dialogue between two characters
    • Describe a contemporary setting
    • Create interesting events relating to contemporary issues
    • Create a story with conflict and problems for the main character to overcome
    • Write a conclusion that resolves the main problem
    • Write in 1st person, past tense
    • Use two examples of slang, dialect, and/or informal language
