The learner will:

The learner can:

    • Listen to two or three news reports
    • Identify headings and subheadings and explain why they are significant
    • Explain the difference between fact and opinion
    • Explain the purpose of news reports and who writes them
    • Participate in discussions to identify the who, what, where, when why aspects of report writing
    • Write a heading for a report
    • Write an introductory paragraph identifying the key event or incident
    • Write three paragraphs giving details about an event or incident
    • Write a concluding sentence or paragraph
    • Include one quotation using reported speech
    • Give evidence and examples to support information
    • Write in 3rd person, past tense
    • Caption or label a photograph, diagram or illustration
