  2. Write simple poetry.

The learner can:

    • Listen to and participate in reciting five or six simple poems
    • Read and perform poetry using pace and volume for effect
    • Talk about repeating patterns
    • Identify rhyming words
    • Express a preference
    • Write two or three simple poems 
    • Generate lists of words on a particular topic
    • Use repeating patterns
    • Write simple rhyming couplets 
    • Start each line with a capital letter
    • Use two examples of alliteration
