What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • Discuss the term consent
    • Discuss other words that mean consent
      • permission
      • agreement
      • approval
    • Give at least three examples of when consent is needed; eg, removing an item of clothing, turning of ACC/Wheelchair, borrowing an item
    • State why consent is needed: eg to stay safe, to protect the person from harm, to support independence, responsibility and freedom of choice, it belongs to somebody else so permission must be given
