The learner will:

  1. Describe actions that can be potential risks to good physical health and actions they can take to protect them.

  2. Understand what the law says about substance use and possession and describe some of the links between substance use and exploitation of young people.

Assessment criteria

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • State three risks to good physical health (e.g. drug misuse)
    • State three actions they can take to protect their physical health
    • Describe their responsibility for looking after their physical health
    • Identify the main laws around substance possession and usage (e.g. possession of a controlled drug; possession with intent to supply another person)
    • State three steps that can be taken to avoid engaging in high-risk behaviour in relation to substance use (e.g. parent or family engagement)
    • Identify two or three ways that misusing substances can lead to you being exploited (e.g. social or financial difficulties)
