Assessment criteria

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • Correctly place the portafilter into the coffee grinder by making sure it rests in the machine without you holding it
    • Select the correct measure (one or two shots) according to the customers order
    • Carefully take the portafilter out of the coffee grinder and place on the tamper mat without spilling any coffee

    Label, recall and know the function of the following pieces of equipment:

    • coffee grinder
    • portafilter
    • tamper
    • tamper mat
    • milk pitcher
    • milk thermometer 
    • filter holder
    • steam wand
    • drip tray
