Assessment criteria

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • Demonstrate which kitchen items are used for what and how they are used
    • Demonstrate two steps of self-hygiene required before carrying out meal preparation 
    • Identify tinned, fresh, frozen and non-perishable foods
    • Identify how and where to store different types of food 
    • Demonstrate how to find expiry dates on foods and the differences between use by and best before dates 
    • Identify different ways to tell whether a product is still fresh to use
