Challenge Level NLH
The learner will participate in a project to investigate the soil conditions required for optimal growth of a plant. They will produce a workbook to keep a project record and display their results.
Entry 2  30
The learner will participate in a range of horticulture activities to develop their skills and knowledge about growing plants.
WTE1  30
The learner will be able to identify cells and know about some of their functions, identify different ecosystems and how species must adapt to survive and identify the role of genes in inheritance.
Level 1  30
The learner will identify chemicals in the world around us and begin to demonstrate their understanding of how some chemicals react. They will consider the future environmental fuel demands.
Level 1  30
The learner will be able to understand how to stay safe with electricity.
Level 1  30
The learner will be introduced to space and the solar system we live in, using a multi-sensory approach.
WTE1  30
The learner will develop a knowledge of growing plants, show they can prepare for, plant and care for them and then sell at a Christmas fair.
Level 1  30
The learner will be able to identify cells and know about some of their functions, identify different ecosystems and begin to explore how humans effect them negatively.
Entry 3  30
The learner will understand how to plant and care for indoor house plants.
Entry 2  30
The learner will evaluate growing methods of house plants
Entry 3  30
The learner will discover how to safely maintain an allotment and care for the plants in it.
Entry 2  30
The learner will train to manage an allotment effectively and safely.
Entry 3  30
The learner will train to effectively grow plants from seed and sell the resulting plants in a mini-enterprise scheme.
Entry 2  30
The learner will train to grow plants that are in demand in order to sell to the general public.
Entry 3  30
The learner will be able to describe the composition and structure of the Earth and the atmosphere, show awareness that the Earth has limited resources and discuss the importance of recycling.
Level 1  30
The learner will define evolution and the impact Darwin’s theory has had on our understanding of species. They will also identify the impact that humans are having on the future of our planet.
Level 1  30
The learner will define evolution and the impact Darwin’s theory has had on our understanding of species. They will also identify the impact that humans are having on the future of our planet.
Entry 3  30
The learner will develop skills and independence in horticulture.
WTE1  30
The learner will understand the solar system, including the planets; their moons; stars; the sun and the universe.
