Challenge Level NLH
The learner will explore habitats through multisensory activities.
WTE1  30
The learner will recognise that faces have different features and to be able to identify the feature of their own face.
WTE1  10
The learner will be able to recognise the change in the seasons from Summer to Autumn by the changing colour of leaves on the trees.
WTE1  20
The learner will experience changing variables in experiments, recording their ideas and findings.
WTE1  10
Learners will investigate and undertake experiments following standard scientific convention.
Entry 1  10
The aim is to learn how a light microscope functions by understanding and naming the different parts of it, as well as demonstrating how to observe a preprepared slide specimen.
Entry 1  10
The learner will be able to name the different parts of the bunsen burner and know how to use the equipment. The learner will light the burner safely, produce a roaring flame and then turn it off.
Entry 1  10
The learner will build on Plant identification - basic, further exploring basic plant structure and introducing basic identification of trees through observation and time of the year.
Entry 1  10
The learner will plant up a prepared site and a container and look after them with support.
Entry 1  20
The learner will be able to use a ray box to produce a beam of light. They will be able to record the path of the light and identify what happens when it intersects with a mirror and a glass block.
Entry 1  10
The learner will be able to carry out some basic crime scene investigation skills and to understand why a crime scene technician must wear special protective clothing.
Entry 1  10
The learner will identify different textures.
Entry 1  10
The learner will investigate forces which are pushes, pulls and twists.
Entry 1  10
The learner will find out about external and internal parts of their body.
Entry 1  10
The learner will investigate solids, liquids, and gases in the classroom / outside.
Entry 1  10
The learners will explore themes connected with energy use and transfer in the home and workplace.
Entry 1  10
The learner will understand how a circuit powers an electrical object and the importance of staying safe when using electricity.
Entry 1  10
The learner will explore a range of chemical products used in the home and that the disposal of these materials can have an impact on the environment.
Entry 1  10
The learner will explore simple laboratory equipment to prepare useful chemicals and gain an understanding of the chemistry behind the reactions.
Entry 1  10
The learner will gain a basic understanding of how science can help us look after our health.
